Banda Aceh, 24th March 2021- The Syiah Kuala University team has participated in the Ind4.0 1st Study Visit which was held on 22 – 24th March 2021
virtually in the ERASMUS+ program to develop the Ind4.0 Curriculum.
This activity involved 15 consortium partners from universities and institutions from Asia and Europe. Malaysia consists of 3 partner universities namely Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Kuala Lumpur. Cambodia also has 4 partners which are University of Heng Samrin Thbong, National University of Battambang, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Mean Chea University. European partners are Hellenic Open University (Greece), Guglielmo University and Sapienza University (Italy), BK-Con (Germany), Skybridge (Greece) and AMC Metropolitan College (Greece). Meanwhile, from Indonesia, there are two partners namely Syiah Kuala University (USK) with Prof. Dr Ir. Samadi as the coordinator, and another partner from University of Sumatera Utara led by Dr Emerson Pascawira Sinulingga. The coordinator of the Ind4.0 consortium is Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
For the implementation at USK, the Ind4.0 program will be merged into the existing MSC in Data Science / Artificial Intelligence Master study program at USK. This first virtual study visit was carried out to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience related to the establishment of a Masters' program related to Ind4.0 which is suitable to be implemented by the partners of the consortium. The study visit also aimed to formulate the main courses for Ind4.0 curriculum together with the course description. With this activity, it hoped that there would be a synergy between the consortium partners regarding the determination of the DS & AI Masters study program courses that will be offered.
The first day of the study was a discussion session led by Assoc. Prof. Achilles Kameas from Hellenic Open University (Greece) on the proposed program followed by a report on the readiness of the partners of the ERASMUS+ program consortium by Dr Bill Vassiliadis who is a researcher at the DAISSY Research Group from the Hellenic Open University (Greece). On the 2nd day, the discussion was on the curriculum structure which will be included in the DS&AI Master’s program, moderated by Dr Bill Vassiliadis.
On the 3rd day, the participants were divided into 4 Working Groups (WG) to formulate the description and content of the courses that were part of the DS / AI Master’s program curriculum. WG-1 formulated technical courses in the field of Computer Engineering and Informatics, WG-2 focused on specific courses related to Industry 4.0, WG-3 dealt with manufacturing-oriented courses, and WG-4 dealt with courses oriented towards manufacturing, agriculture, aquaculture, and health sector. At the end of the program, the output of the study visit served to bridge the gap between academia and industry in facing the Industrial revolution 4.0.
