On Wednesday June 22 nd 2022, H.E. Jaques Pellet, French Ambassador to Cambodia and Prof. Adèle Martial Gros, IRD Director in Cambodia, paid a visit at the National University of Battambang (NUBB)
to figure out the education and research programs at NUBB. The visit was composed of a courtesy meeting with H.E. SOK Khorn, Rector of NUBB, and a field visit to NUBB research’s monitoring site along the Sangker River (Tonle Sap Basin) at Aek Phnom district, where the AGROECO research team was conducting their water and biological sampling. This monitoring site is dedicated as Water related Living Lab (WoLL) demonstration site under the framework of Erasmus+ INOWASIA project. Thus, it is used not only research purposes, but also for the training program at NUBB. French Ambassador and IRD director highly appreciate NUBB research team, especially the research inspiration of NUBB students. In between, HE French Ambassador visited Phsar Prahok, one of the important fishery product market, to figure out the fishery product supply chain, which is part of GREENCAP mini-research project in collaboration with Southern University of Denmark and University of Vigo (Spain).
During the courtesy meeting with HE Rector SOK Khorn, HE Jaques Pellet highly appreciated the achievement of NUBB and Prof. Adele Martial Gros presented the ongoing research project funded by IRD, while inviting NUBB to be part of the big international research initiative PREZOD (One Health approach), Africam project. HE Rector addressed a profound thanks to French government, as well as IRD, for the permanent support to Cambodia, particularly to NUBB, through different funding, research project and capacity building project through different Erasmus+ CBHE project such as Greencap, Ind4.0 and Inowasia to improve the quality of NUBB graduate programs. Last, HE Rector wish continuing support from French institutions in term research capacity building and human resource development at NUBB.
